BIO
Bio--(short version) I was born in Iceland but have lived most of my life in Maryland. I was fortunate to attend Columbus College of Art and Design on an awarded scholarship, and continued my education over the years with many classes and workshops with artists I admire, and have taken other college courses. I worked as a commericial illustrator and photographer before concentrating on both sculpture and now oil painting. Currenty am a member of 'Oil Painters of America", 'Salmagundi Club', 'Vallery Art Association', and 'Spectrum Seven'. I am listed in the 'National Museum of Women in the Arts', and' The Artists Bluebook'. I have won numerous awards in juried shows, had one person shows in Washington County Museum of Fine Art in Hagerstowsn, MD; Shepherd College, WV; and ListGallery, Reykjavik, Iceland. Also, I have shown in numerous galleries over the years. My work is in private and corporate collections both inthe U.S. and Europe. I had one of my paintings donated by a collector and addcepted for the WCMFA permanent collection.
My painting style could be called imprssionist realism, and I paint many paintings of Iceland and Maryland lanadscapes, and oftern paint my 'mindscapes' (which can be most anything), as well as a wide variety of subjects. I also teach an oil painting class in my studio.
Statement--( I am not one to dream up lots of 'artyisms') I strive to paint in a balance of intellect and emotion and hope to touch other minds and hearts.
